The Zug host programme

The Zug host programme

Volunteers from Zug act as hosts to accompany newcomers upon their arrival in Zug. They show them the most important places in Zug and pave the way to help them settle in successfully and quickly.

Every year about 2500 people move to Zug from abroad. They often have two initial difficulties in common: 1) uncertainty about general life in Zug and 2) lack of social and professional network and contacts. The aim is for newcomers to settle quickly in Zug, get to know the most important authorities and be able to participate actively in society, whilst also improving their German language skills. Become part of the New Zug Welcome Culture and contribute actively to a harmonious coexistence!

Newcomer- Are you new to Zug?

Every year about 2500 people move to Zug from abroad.

They often have two initial difficulties in common:

  • Uncertainty about life in Zug in general (Where is what? Who is who?)
  • A lack of social and professional network and contacts.

The aim is for newcomers to settle quickly in Zug, get to know the most important authorities and be able to participate actively in society, whilst also improving their German language skills.

Join as a Zuger Newcomer and get to know your new home better. You will be guided by a local host, improve your network and participate actively in Zug. This will make you feel more quickly at home here and learn German at the same time.

Being a newcomer has many advantages:

  • Meet local people and clubs.
  • Receive suggestions and advice for settling in quickly and get to know the Zug administration.
  • Make your first acquaintance with Swiss culture and values and learn a little German.

Your role:

To be open-minded and curious about new things.

The goal:

The aim is for local hosts to make it easier for you as a newcomer to settle into Zug. You will be able to master the daily challenges of life quicker and more independently.
